This is a promo for Hat Dance Designs for the Black Women's Expo. They used this as one of thier videos for their social media promotion. I did this while I was working with TUV Media. I chose to take on this particular project because of my aunt's battle with breast cancer. She died just before this video was made.
Missed Ya!
This is the first project I did using the brand. I was just fiddling so I'll probably update it in the near future. For now, here it is!
Just A Little Background
Hello All!! I really appreciate you stopping by and I encourage you to view and comment on my work. As mentioned in my profile, I am a recent graduate of Columbia College Chicago receiving my Bachelor's of Art in Television Post-Production. I am very excited about starting my career.
I first became interested in media as a senior in high school when I joined Vernon Park Church of God. I decided to join the media ministry because it was different from anything offered at my last church. Rick Nelson, the media director, trained me as a camera operator and I really enjoyed it. However, I had other plans as far as my career. I had been accepted to a college to study Biology. Well...I realized that though Biology was very interesting, it just wasn't something I could be in forever. I came back home and became more involved in the media ministry. That's when Rick taught me how to edit. I was hooked. SO, 5.5 years, 4 schools, and 3 majors after I entered college, I can finally call myself a graduate with a degree in something I can dedicate myself to. I am also the first in my family to receive a degree, but hopefully not the last.
I created this blog so that people can view my work without having to wait for a DVD in the mail. Just sign on! Also, Vernon Park Church of God airs on WJYS. I have done numerous things for them including camera operating, directing, sound operations, and editing. I hope you enjoy all of my pieces and I look forward to your comments.
Thanks,
Ms. Chauney
E.
E. is a spoof of E! put on by Out On A Limb, a student produced sketch comedy show by Columbia College. This particular production was live to tape and the background is completely chroma keyed. Hope you enjoy!

Chicago Live
This piece was screened at Premiere Night at Columbia College Chicago for a student produced show called Chicago Live. It was used to show parents and other interested individuals what the class is all about and why other students should get involved. This is an example of my documentary style editing. After going through six hours of tape and putting this ten minute piece together in two weeks, I am proud of the way it turned out. Of course there is always room for improvement. I hope you enjoy. Comments are encouraged.
Thanks,
Ms. Chauney
Pattern Recognition
This piece is a motion
graphics piece that is
really just for fun.
In my motion graphics
class our assignment
was to read a novel,
Pattern Recognition by William Gibson,
and make a motion intro for the movie based
on one of the themes in the novel. For this
piece I used a panoramic picture of Times Square,
built a cube world, and completely masked it
out. I remade all the labels. The main character,
Cayce Pollard is dressed in all black and she is
a coolhunter who has a phobia of trends, labels,
and anything that may become trendy. The
idea was to create this imaginary world in
which she is haunted by the very thing that
scares her the most. This is why all of the
characters look alike. I used AfterEffects
and Photoshop to create this piece. In order
to put each character in the intro, I took still
pictures in different outfits and color keyed them
in AfterEffects. Hope you enjoy.
